Castlehead Paired Reading Club

Jennifer Black and Donna Wilson write:

We won a Philip Lawrence Award in 2003 and have continued to be involved since. We both feel honoured and privileged to still be involved within the PLA family as we have met so many great people from different backgrounds. The Awards benefit each group as the prize money goes towards improving their project. Furthermore, the status of the Awards encourages projects to continue their invaluable work and develop it. It also proves an advantage to each member as it is a good talking point in job interviews. It is important to give young people the recognition for their hard work. There is no other award scheme like the Philip Lawrence Awards; it challenges the status quo that all young people want to cause trouble. The PLA have to continue so that more young people are awarded for their achievements that they truly deserve.
